It is wonderfully self-aware, explaining in frank language how to adapt M&M's paradigm to different eras of comic book history. Smut was a really fun easy read. Despite following an overdone theme, this book brings me back to why that theme is so popular, and in my opinion is second only to (if not even with) Rothfus' Kingkiller Chronicles, one of my all time favorites. If you have ever felt an insatiable craving inside, a void that cannot be filled, a deep yearning for love, then this book will help you make sense of that feeling and find the way "to the other shore," to joy and fulfillment. I cannot wait until next summer when I can again taste some pluots, and I will for a second time read this book. Although it is extremely difficult to get a hold on, it is well worth the effort.
